Hi, I'm Ankita Badrinarayanaraj! I am a sophomore at Westview High School. I've participated in numerous competitions, winning awards for various subjects such as math, science, and extracurriculars. I am currently studying AP Calculus at Westview High School. I am an active member of various clubs/competitions offered at Westview like Speech & Debate, DECA, OHD, Soccer, and more. I have been volunteering at the HECSA Portland Balaji Temple, Oregon Food Bank and I serve as the Youth Ambassador for the Akshaya Patra Portland Chapter.
I was a KUMON student for around 8 years. I have enjoyed reading and math as long as I can remember. I received the mathelete award in 2017. I have recieved certificates of advanced acheivements (Platinum awards) for both math and reading multiple times. I also competed in the Math Fax competition and won second place.
I have been learning chess from Roshen Nair (Roshen's Chess Academy) for 6 years and actively participating in multiple chess tournaments around Oregon. I won first place in the 2023 Girls State Championship and 3rd place in 2024 . I also got an honorable mention in the 2024 Chess State Championship.
In 2020, my team project got selected into the Northwest Science Expo (State) and won the second place. From there, we participated in the National Broadcom masters, which is the nation's premier STEM competition for Middle School students.
I have been learning Bharatanatyam for 7 years from Guru: Kalamandalam Shivya Raveendran (Natyaveda School of Dance) . I have done multiple performances around Portland, including SWORAM, Margazhi Utsavam, Shivaratri, and more. I completed my arangetram and second debut (margam) in the summer of 2024.
I've been studying piano with Ron Murvihill for over three years. During this time, I’ve participated in numerous recitals and concerts in both Portland and India. I also achieved Level 5 in the OMTA Evaluation.
I have been learning Mridangam from Guru Vidwan Arjun Ganesh (Laya - AALAYA) for over two years and regularly participate in recitals and concerts around Portland. Additionally, I have been studying Carnatic Music for seven years with Smt. Ramya Srikanth (Ramya's School of Music) and have performed in multiple concerts representing my music school.
As the Youth Ambassador for the Portland Chapter of Akshaya Patra, I take pride in organizing fundraising events to support its mission. In March 2024, I hosted a fundraising event where high school students and local artists performed and showcased their musical talents, raising $11,971 for Akshaya Patra.

I am part of the JV (Junior Varsity) 2 Soccer Team at Westview High School. We compete in numerous Metro League matches, conducted by OSAA (Oregon School Activities Association). I was awarded the "Excellence in trying new things - Persistent" award for the 2023 - 2024 season.

I am part of the FTC (First Tech Challenge) team, High Voltage 18108. I work with the outreach and hardware team. Our team made it to the state competition last season and won several awards. In recognition of Academic Achievement and excellence, I was granted membership in The National Society of High School Scholars. This membership is for meritorious scholastic achievement and the pursuit of excellence at Westview High School.
I was awarded The Presidential Volunteer Service Award: GOLD by AmeriCorps, recognizing and appreciating my commitment to strengthening our nation and communities through volunteer service.
